Blakey.

The Maison Mihara Yasuhiro Blakey is a low-top canvas sneaker in which Japanese designer Mihara Yasuhiro reworks a classic vintage sneaker silhouette into his own outspoken design language. Like the Peterson and the Hank, the Blakey sits on the signature OG Sole: the hand-shaped “melted” sole that was originally sculpted in clay before being cast in rubber. That gives every pair an organic, slightly imperfect look — exactly as intended. The result is a sneaker that feels familiar at first glance, yet stands out up close thanks to its distorted lines and raw finish.

The upper is made from sturdy canvas with a simple lacing system, contrast stitching and a textured rubber foxing around the sole. That mix of a timeless base and off-kilter proportions makes the Blakey easy to wear: under wide-leg denim, tailored trousers or oversized shorts it instantly adds character to a simple outfit. The chunky rubber sole also delivers solid cushioning for everyday wear.

How does the Maison Mihara Yasuhiro Blakey fit?

Maison Mihara Yasuhiro sneakers run large, and the Blakey is no exception. If you are between sizes, go one size down from your usual sneaker size. The canvas upper feels a little stiff at first but moulds to the foot after a few wears. Thanks to the wide sole construction there is enough room in the forefoot, even for slightly wider feet.
