Looking ahead to the Air Jordan 1 Retro High “True Blue”

An Air Jordan 1 release will always be a big deal but, when it’s a high-cut version of a much
beloved Air Jordan colorway, it becomes a huge deal. One of the biggest releases so far this
year, this is what you need to know about the “True Blue” Air Jordan 1’s.
What you need to know
The shoe comes in a white leather base with blue detailing across the leather overlays around the toe and midfoot sections of the model. And a cement grey dresses the collar and heel
counter overlays. The upper is paired with a matching white midsole and cement grey
outsole, and Nike branding is dotted around the model in blue.

Keeping the colorway simple and yet familiar, the model is set to honour the 35th
anniversary of the Air Jordan 3. It does so by taking the “True Blue” colorway that is so
popular on the Air Jordan 3 and applying it to the Air Jordan 1. This uses a familiar process
that Jordan has relied on over the last few years. To create new colorways whilst still
cashing in on the same nostalgia, Jordan has been taking popular colorways from one model
and applying them to another. Take for example the Air Jordan 6 “Hare” taking on the
“Hare” colorway that was popularised on the Air Jordan 7. This particular release remains
significant, however, because it’s much less usual for Jordan to use such a method on the Air
Jordan 1 and 3 – models that have seen plenty of success with new and creative colorway
choices.
Keeping the retro theme, the model will also come in a shape most reminiscent of the OG
1985 Air Jordan 1’s rather than the modified shape of more recent Air Jordan retros. This has
been a popular decision after the success of the 1985 Georgetown Air Jordan 1s, a shoe that
also featured blue and grey detailing when it was released back in 2022.
