Peterson
The Maison Mihara Yasuhiro Peterson is the model that put the Japanese label on the global map. Designer Mihara Yasuhiro took a classic canvas basketball silhouette as his starting point and set it on the famous OG Sole: the hand-shaped “melted” sole that was originally sculpted in clay before being cast in rubber. The result is a sneaker that recalls a familiar vintage classic, yet is instantly recognisable as Mihara thanks to its distorted, almost fluid lines. The Peterson comes as both a low-top and a high-top, and the Peterson 23 introduced an updated version with a slightly more refined silhouette.
Its signature details are the sturdy canvas upper, the rubber toe cap, contrast stitching and the textured rubber foxing around the sole. From timeless black and white to natural and seasonal colourways, every version keeps that raw, artistic look. The chunky rubber sole gives the Peterson a bold stance and comfortable cushioning, so it works just as well with wide-leg denim and workwear as with tailored trousers or oversized shorts.
How does the Maison Mihara Yasuhiro Peterson fit?
The Peterson runs on the large side. Choose one size down if in doubt. The canvas feels a little stiff at first but moulds to your foot after a few wears. The wide sole leaves plenty of room in the forefoot.
