Triumph 4
The Saucony ProGrid Triumph 4 is a retro runner from Saucony based on a 2007 running shoe built for high mileage. Since its reissue it has become a regular in the brand’s lifestyle range, with a layered mesh upper, silver details and a tall ProGrid sole. Women and men wear it as an everyday sneaker with a technical look.
The history of the ProGrid Triumph 4
The Triumph line was Saucony’s neutral cushioning shoe: for runners who wanted plenty of comfort over long distances, without extra correction. The fourth version came out in 2007, with a layered foam stack in the heel and forefoot. Like many running shoes of that period, it later disappeared from the shelves.
In 2022 Saucony Originals brought the model back, including the original yellow, black and silver colourway. According to retailers, the sole was carried over unchanged and the upper is a near copy of the 2007 version. New colours and collaborations have followed since, such as the series with designer Jae Tips.
Design and technology
The upper mixes open mesh with synthetic overlays and plenty of silver, giving the shoe a busy late-2000s look. In the heel sits ProGrid, Saucony’s cushioning system from that era, which softens the impact of every step. The midsole is fairly tall and sculpted at the midfoot so the shoe stays flexible.
Popular ProGrid Triumph 4 colorways
Next to the classic silver versions, the 2025 Flowers Grow Uptown series by Bronx designer Jae Tips stands out. He named its three pairs after plants from his neighbourhood. These versions get the most views on WOOVIN:
- ProGrid Triumph 4 ‘White Silver Grey’: white mesh with silver and grey, closest to the classic runner look.
- ProGrid Triumph 4 ‘Floral Blue Beige’: beige with blue accents.
- ProGrid Triumph 4 Jae Tips ‘Virginia Creeper’: soft peach and pink tones.
- ProGrid Triumph 4 Jae Tips ‘Perilla’: the purple pair from the series, with floral logos on the midfoot.
- ProGrid Triumph 4 Jae Tips ‘Sugar Maple’: green tones, with UPTOWN lettering on the heel like the other two.
What is the difference between the ProGrid Triumph 4 and the ProGrid Omni 9?
Both are Saucony retro runners with ProGrid cushioning, but they were made for different runners. The ProGrid Omni 9 was a stability shoe with a firmer zone on the inside of the midsole. The Triumph 4 was a neutral shoe with the emphasis on cushioning for long runs. Like the look but prefer another brand? Then the ASICS Gel-Kayano 14 is a comparable 2000s runner.
How does the Saucony ProGrid Triumph 4 fit?
According to retailers, the ProGrid Triumph 4 fits true to size, so you can order your usual sneaker size. With wide feet or thick socks, half a size up gives a little more room. The retro versions are generally unisex and follow men’s sizing; in EU sizes you just pick your own size.
