Yeezy 350
The Yeezy Boost 350 is the best-known model in the Yeezy line: a low sneaker with a knitted upper and a full-length Boost midsole. The 350 V2 in particular, with the stripe across the side, became a recognisable silhouette in streetwear. It is worn by women and men and comes in dozens of colours.
The history of the Yeezy Boost 350
The Yeezy Boost 350 appeared in June 2015 as the second model from the partnership between adidas and Kanye West, after the high-top Yeezy Boost 750. The first version had a low, knitted upper without stripes and a sole that almost fully wrapped around the Boost.
In September 2016 the Yeezy Boost 350 V2 followed. It got a higher heel section, a heel pull tab, a translucent sole and a striking stripe across the side, at first with the text SPLY-350. After the partnership ended in 2022, adidas released the existing designs in phases.
Design and technology
The upper is made of Primeknit, a knitted material that shapes itself around the foot and has few seams. Below it sits a Boost midsole, built from compressed foam pellets that feel springy and soft. The rubber cage around it protects the foam and provides grip.
On later releases adidas varied the knit pattern, used reflective yarns and released versions with or without a stripe. Some colorways have a see-through stripe, others a completely tonal look.
Popular Yeezy 350 colorways
The Yeezy Boost 350 V2 ‘Onyx’ is all black, while the Yeezy Boost 350 V2 ‘Bone’ has an off-white upper and a light sole. The Yeezy Boost 350 V2 ‘Black Red’, also known as ‘Bred’, combines black knit with red SPLY-350 lettering. The Yeezy Boost 350 V2 ‘Slate’ has a muted grey tone that works well with neutral clothing.
What is the difference between the Yeezy 350 and the Yeezy 700?
The 350 is a slim, low sneaker with a knitted upper and a smooth silhouette. The Yeezy 700 is a chunky sneaker with a layered upper of suede, leather and mesh and a thicker, bolder sole. If you want something in between, with a wavy sole without Boost, the Yeezy 500 is an option.
How does the Yeezy Boost 350 fit?
The fit depends on the version. The original 350 largely fits true to size. According to most wearers the 350 V2 runs a little small and snug, especially around the toes and instep, so many people choose half a size up. If you have wide feet, that extra half size on the V2 is almost always a good idea.
