Harden
The adidas Harden is the signature line of basketball player James Harden, which has received a new ‘Volume’ roughly every year since 2016. The shoes are built for quick changes of direction and stand out for their daring shapes and colours. On WOOVIN you will mainly find the more recent versions, the Harden Vol. 8, Vol. 9 and Vol. 10.
The history of the adidas Harden
James Harden moved from Nike to adidas in 2015, on a long-term contract. At the end of 2016 the first shoe came out: the Harden Vol. 1, with a full-length Boost midsole, asymmetric lacing and his signature on the inside. The first colorway was called ‘Pioneer’.
After that, new models followed at a steady pace. In December 2025 the Harden Vol. 10 was released, taking the series to ten years and ten volumes. Harden played for several NBA teams in that period, but stayed with adidas the whole time.
Design and technology
Each Volume has its own design, but the basis stays the same: a low to mid-height basketball shoe that holds the foot firmly during abrupt stops and step-backs. Typical features are a sturdy upper, a wide base for stability and a deeply patterned sole for grip.
The cushioning and materials differ per version. The Vol. 8, Vol. 9 and Vol. 10 have a tight, close-fitting feel and a strikingly shaped sole. If you already know one of these Volumes, compare with that pair when in doubt.
Popular adidas Harden colorways
The Harden appears in many bright colours and special editions tied to moments in the season. On WOOVIN these pairs are currently getting the most views:
- Harden Vol. 8 ‘Feather Grey’: light grey with ivory and black.
- Harden Vol. 10 ‘Hi-Res Yellow’: vivid yellow with black and orange.
- Harden Vol. 10 ‘Matte Purple’: matte purple with black and a touch of lemon yellow.
- Harden Vol. 10 ‘All-Star’: silver with black and orange, the edition for All-Star weekend.
- Harden Vol. 9 ‘Cyber Metallic’: metallic silver-grey with black and red.
Which adidas basketball shoe suits you: Harden or AE?
Both lines are made for guards, but they feel different. The Harden is built around control and stability during quick stops, with a close-fitting upper. The adidas AE by Anthony Edwards has a more explosive character and a striking plastic structure on the side. If you look further, compare it with Nike’s signature lines too, such as the Nike Kobe and the Nike LeBron.
How does the adidas Harden fit?
adidas describes the Harden Vol. 9 and Vol. 10 as a regular fit that is true to size, so you can order your usual adidas size. The toe is narrow and tapered, though, and the upper feels tight the first few times. Narrow to regular feet fit well in the size you always wear. If you have wide feet, go half a size up or first compare with a basketball shoe you already own.
