KD
The Nike KD is the signature line of Kevin Durant, one of the best scorers the NBA has ever seen. Since his first model in 2009, Nike has built the line into a light, low basketball shoe that you also see off the court. On WOOVIN you will find recent models such as the KD 18 and KD 19, alongside retros of the KD 4.
Kevin Durant and Nike
Durant entered the NBA in 2007 as the second pick of the Seattle SuperSonics, the club that moved to Oklahoma City a year later. In 2009 Nike presented his first own shoe, the KD 1, inspired by the Huarache 2K4 he liked to play in. He later won two titles with the Golden State Warriors and four Olympic gold medals with Team USA.
His nicknames run like a thread through the series: ‘Easy Money Sniper’ and ‘Slim Reaper’ keep coming back in colorways and details. Since the KD 4, Durant has also honoured his aunt Pearl, who died of lung cancer in 2000, with pink versions.
Design and technology
The first KDs were slim, low shoes for a tall but light player who moves like a guard. The KD 4 from the 2011-12 season stood out with its wide strap across the midfoot. Recent generations combine a light upper with Zoom Air: the KD 17 and KD 18 have a large Zoom Air unit under the forefoot, the KD 19 a full-length Air Zoom Strobel with Cushlon 3.0 foam. For that KD 19, Nike looked to the Zoom Hyperflight from the early 2000s.
Popular Nike KD colorways
These KD versions are viewed most often on WOOVIN right now:
- KD 18 ‘Aunt Pearl’: soft pink and cream with roses on the midfoot cage, the yearly tribute to his aunt.
- KD 4 ‘Nerf’ (2024): purple with bright red, green and a paint-splatter print, after the well-known foam toys.
- KD 17 ‘Easy Money Sniper’: black with shades of green, red accents and an outsole that glows in the dark.
- KD 19 ‘Field Purple’: glossy purple with small hits of gold and green.
- KD 4 ‘Galaxy’ (2024): metallic silver with orange and a glow-in-the-dark sole, first seen around the 2012 All-Star Game.
KD, LeBron or Kobe: what is the difference?
The Nike LeBron is made for a heavy, powerful player and offers the most cushioning and support. The Nike Kobe is low and revolves around footwork. The KD sits in between: light and low, but with enough cushioning for a tall player who often lands after a jump. Looking for a playful, quick low-top instead? Then check out the Nike Ja.
How does the Nike KD fit?
According to most reviewers, a recent KD such as the KD 18 fits true to size, so your usual Nike size is the starting point. The forefoot is fairly narrow and the upper feels stiff for the first few wears. With narrow or average feet you stay with your own size; with wide feet, half a size up is more comfortable.

On WOOVIN you will find the KD 18 and KD 19 for the court, and KD 4 retros for collectors and fans of the early 2010s. If you want to play in them, choose the newest generation with the most modern cushioning. For the street, the retros with their midfoot strap and bright colours are the more eye-catching choice.
