The Yeezy Foam RNNR is a moulded foam slip-on from the Yeezy line, with large openings on the sides and a wavy silhouette. It is not a classic sneaker and not a slide either, but something in between. That makes it a striking summer model for women and men, worn barefoot or with sports socks.

The history of the Yeezy Foam RNNR

The Foam RNNR came out in 2020 as part of the partnership between adidas and Kanye West. The first colour was ‘Ararat’, a light sand shade. The design was immediately widely discussed because of its unusual shape, which looks more like an object than a traditional shoe.

After the first release, new colours appeared, including marbled ‘MX’ versions in which several shades blend together. In 2022 the end of the partnership also meant the end of new designs, but the model is still in demand.

Design and materials

The Foam RNNR is moulded from a single piece of EVA foam, with no seams, laces or separate parts. That makes it light and easy to keep clean. The openings on the side provide ventilation, and the thick, grooved sole gives grip and cushioning.

Because there is no fastening, you simply slide the shoe on. The shape alone determines how it fits, which is also why choosing the right size matters so much.

What is the difference between the Foam RNNR and the Yeezy Slide?

Both are moulded from foam and follow the same approach, but the shape differs. The Yeezy Slide is an open slide that leaves your heel free. The Foam RNNR encloses the whole foot and therefore wears more like a shoe. If you want a real sneaker with laces and cushioning, the Yeezy Boost 350 is a more logical choice.

The Yeezy Foam RNNR runs small. Choose one size up if in doubt. The model only comes in whole sizes, so if you normally wear a half size, go to the next whole size up. The front closes quite tightly around the toes, and the foam barely stretches.
