Classic Clog

The Crocs Classic Clog is the clog that made Crocs famous around the world: light, quick to rinse off and with holes in the toe for fresh air. It goes from the garden to the festival field and serves as the base for countless editions with films, comics and cartoon heroes. That is why many buyers choose it as much for the theme as for the comfort.

The history of the Crocs Classic Clog

The Classic Clog dates back to the early days of Crocs, in the early 2000s, when the brand sold its foam clog as a boat shoe. The shape has barely changed since: the same rounded toe, the same ventilation holes and the same pivoting strap behind the heel.

That recognisable shape turned out to be an ideal canvas. After years in which the clog was mostly dismissed as a practical work shoe, it now appears in editions with Disney, Pixar, Star Wars and DC Comics.

Design and materials

The clog is moulded from a single piece of Croslite, Crocs’ own foam material. That keeps it light and water-resistant, and the footbed feels soft without collapsing. The toe box is high and wide, so your toes can move freely.

The heel strap pivots: set it to the back and the clog stays on your foot better while walking; flip it forward and you wear it as a slip-on. Jibbitz charms fit into the holes.

What is the difference between the Classic Clog and a slide?

The Classic Clog fully encloses the front of your foot and has a heel strap, so you can also walk a fair distance in it. A slide leaves your toes and heel free: think of the adidas Adilette or the Yeezy Slide, which you mainly wear by the pool or at home. If you want a closed shoe of moulded foam with a sleeker shape, look at the Yeezy Foam RNNR.

How does the Crocs Classic Clog fit?

The Classic Clog has a deliberately roomy fit, with plenty of space at the toes and over the instep. Crocs only makes it in whole sizes, and the EU label often shows two sizes together, such as 41–42. If you normally wear a half size, the smaller whole size fits well for most people. If you have wide feet or wear the clog with thick socks in winter, take the larger one.
