SAFE TRADING
WOOVIN does as much as possible to keep the marketplace safe and prevent fraud.
We do this by means of the following:
👟 Every member must have their telephone number, e-mail and identity verified;
👟 Every member can give another member only one review;
👟 WOOVIN is entitled to remove anyone who does not meet the conditions from the platform if a seller sells an unauthentic pair of sneakers for example;
👟 Members have the option to report other members for incorrect actions. We will then investigate whether the member should be removed from the platform.
👟 In addition, WOOVIN has created this ”Safe Trading” manual, where members can find information and tips on various topics related to safety.
Due to the regulations mentioned above, we make it very difficult for potential fraudsters to trade on our platform. In order to optimally prepare starting sneaker buyers and sellers, we have drawn up this manual about safe trading. In this manual, we will distinguish between buyers and sellers and between a meetup and the shipping of the sneakers.
Meetup:
Before meeting up with the seller, it is good to view the experiences of other members with the seller. It is always good to check what reviews the seller you are dealing with has received or to ask the seller for other references (proofs of legitimacy from the seller). This can for example be a legit check on the seller through a social media platform to see if they are legit. Before the meeting takes place, it is good to prepare yourself to be able to distinguish a non-authentic pair from an authentic pair of the relevant sneaker model. You can do this by watching videos on YouTube for example. In addition, it is always useful to ask the seller for tagged photos before you plan the meeting. Tagged photos are photos of the sneakers with the (user)name of the seller on it. This gives you as a buyer more certainty that the seller is in possession of the sneakers himself and has taken his own photos. You can then do a legit check yourself with these tagged photos and possibly have them checked for legitimacy by a third party who has more knowledge of the legitimacy of sneakers. If everything is in order according to you, you are well prepared and you can make an appointment with the seller. Make an appointment at a place that you think is safe. Check the sneakers carefully on the spot and ask the seller for proof of purchase, preferably digital proof. After you have checked everything and it is correct, you can complete the deal and make the payment. Consult with the seller in advance on how the payment will be made so that no disagreement can arise during the meetup. After the deal is completed according to your wishes, you give the seller a review and you can start enjoying your sneakers.
FOR BUYERS
Having sneakers shipped:
If you let the seller ship the sneakers, there are some important points to ensure a safe transaction. For purchasing sneakers through a shipment, certainty is important. Therefore it is always good to view the reviews of the seller and possibly request other references (proof of the seller’s legitimacy), such as a check on the seller via a social media platform to see if they are legitimate. It is also important to ask the seller for tagged photos (photos of the sneakers with the (user)name of the seller on it). This gives you as a buyer more certainty that the seller is in possession of the sneakers himself and has taken his own photos. Check these tagged photos carefully and possibly have them checked for legitimacy by a third party who has more knowledge of the legitimacy of sneakers. It is useful to ask the seller for any proof of purchase, preferably digital proof, and check if this is legitimate proof. Always have the seller ship with a track & trace code and consult with the seller to see if shipping should be insured. With shipments from abroad, take into account that tax on the sneakers may have to be paid on arrival of the sneakers, this varies per country, via the following link: https://www.simplyduty.com/import-calculator/ you can calculate this amount. When you have received the sneakers and are satisfied, give the seller a review and enjoy your sneakers!
FOR SELLERS
Meetup:
As a seller during a deal, there are a few important things to keep in mind. It is important that you have an idea with whom you are going to close a deal, so always look at the reviews of the potential buyer. In addition, you can always ask for their Facebook or Instagram to get an idea of the buyer you are dealing with. Before the meeting takes place, discuss how payment will be conducted and make sure you are familiar with this payment method. After the buyer has paid, always check your account to see whether the money has been transferred. If you received an email or sms, but you do not see the transaction on your account, we recommend that you contact your bank before handing over the sneakers. Try to provide the buyer with all necessary information before the meeting takes place, for example, if you miss an extra pair of laces or if the box is damaged. Make sure to always indicate this in advance, so that no disagreement can arise during the meetup. If you meet with the buyer, make an appointment in a place that you think is safe. If you sell a worn pair of sneakers, it is relevant that you indicate to the buyer in advance what condition the sneakers are in. Do this by sending photos, so that no disagreement will arise during the meetup. When the deal is completed and you are satisfied, give the buyer a review and enjoy your proceeds!
Shipping the sneakers:
If you as a seller ship the sneakers, communication to the buyer is particularly important. Try to provide the buyer with all the necessary information before payment is made and you send the package, for example, if you miss an extra pair of laces or if the box is damaged. Always indicate this in advance so that no disagreement can arise. If you sell a worn pair of sneakers, it is relevant that you clearly indicate to the buyer in advance what condition the sneakers are in. Do this by sending photos, so that no disagreement will arise about this either. Make sure you send the sneakers double boxed, this means that you send the sneakers in the original sneaker box contained in a shipping box. This ensures that both the sneakers and the sneaker box will be damaged less quickly. We recommend that you create the shipping label digitally so no mistakes can be made by the courier due to unclear handwriting. Make sure you always ship with track & trace and optionally insure the package. When sending a parcel, it is also important that after the buyer indicates that you have paid, you check your account whether the money is actually on it or if your account indicates that the payment is currently being processed. If you receive an email or text message that the buyer has paid but nothing is stated on your account, always contact your bank before sending the package. When the deal is completed and you are satisfied, give the buyer a review and enjoy your proceeds!
General points:
👟 If a deal seems too good to be true, it often is. Be extra vigilant while trading and if in doubt, we recommend not making the deal.
👟 If you, as a buyer or seller, have indicated that you have a deal, this also means that it is a deal and it is very unprofessional to cancel the deal afterwards, so called flaking.
👟 Never send a photo of your passport, identity card or driver’s license if a potential buyer or seller asks for it. This way you protect yourself against possible identity fraud.
